AsteriskC2D does indeed work just fine with Asterisk 1.6.

The only thing might be that you will need to add an originate entry to in manager.conf

[asteriskC2D] 

secret=nottelling 

read=call,user,originate 

write=call,user,originate 

Everything else should be just fine.
