self signed SSL certificate issue

Postby brddd on Wed Feb 03, 2010 3:48 am

After getting my configuration working with non-ssl, I setup my web server with a self-signed SSL cert. All works well through my browser.

However, when dialing through the AsteriskC2D iPhone app, I get "untrusted server certificate". <sigh>

I don't want to have to pay for a signed SSL certificate. Is there anyway to get AsteriskC2D to accept self-signed certs? If not, this application is useless for me, as I'm not going to put my web server on the outside without SSL and I don't want to have to pay for a SSL server cert.

Thanks,

Yes you can. I keep meaning to document it a little better.

Basically you need to create a root certificate and then sign the web server certificate with the root cert.

You can then email the public root certificate to yourself and open it on the iPhone which will thus install it.

I'm away from my computers now. But will try to write up a step by step guide in the morning. Let me know if your still stuck.

Cheers

Have a look at this document:

Let me know if you need any more help with this.
